I'm sure this is obvious to most mac users but I thought I would mention it. On a Mac I would go into Disk Utility and do a first aid on the disk in question or indeed on all disks it never hurts. I would advise Xcopy from a command line but make sure you know which Switches to use. If that doesn't work sometimes just copying the files to a new destination will work.

Right click the folder and choose properties you should see something similar to the images I have uploaded: Go to advanced and check who is the owner of the folder and the inheritance of the permissions and make sure the check box "replace all child objects etc etc " is checked. In my experience many, but not all, Windows problems are caused by corrupted file attributes.
